No..........Make that four of us!!!
Hate them........and wish someone would come out with an etiquette book for them!!!
Would only like to have one for when I travel long distances.........just for the safety factor.
I am not 'real fond' of talking on the regular phone.........why would I want people to be able to get in touch with me anytime??

I had dialup for 9 years. Had to get a second phone line which was for my computer only, because of my husbands job. He has to be available 24/7 in the winter.
So about 2 years ago, when DSL through my phone company finally became available, I took advantage of it. It turned out to be cheaper because of the package deal for phone, internet, and the Direct TV.
We resisted cell phones for a long time. It will be 2 yrs in late August that we got ours. Again, the hubby needs one for his job. We got the tracfones with the double minutes for life for $ 30 each and now we just get the $ 20 card for 60 minutes every 3 months. I find a promo bonus code and do it online and so we end up with 150 minutes each for the 3 months. Neither one of us use the text messages. Calls are usually very short. So we both have a lot of minutes left over.
Don't apologize for having dial up. If it works, keep using it

We only got rid of dial up because we play games at pogo.com and if you were playing a game dial up didn't recognize that you were online and kick you off right in the middle of the game. The program we used to be able to get calls while online was pagoo if you are interested in looking into it. My dh has a cell phone plan and I use mine VERY little. If my phone wasn't free added to his plan I probably wouldn't have it. They need to hand out etiquette books with cell phones. I don't know about you, but I DO NOT WANT TO LISTEN to your conversation everywhere I go.

I have dial up and I'm not going to apologize to anyone for it. I have busy line voice mail so if someone calls me and we are on the phone or computer they can leave a message. I refuse to pay a fortune for something that I don't need just to make other people happy.
All four of us also have pre-paid cell phones. That way we aren't paying a fortune for things we don't need and we aren't locked into a contract. The kids had to pay for their own phones and they have to pay for their own minutes.

Missed the cell phone part. I had a cell phone for about 5 years, and then got rid of it. Haven't had one for the last 4 years, and don't regret my decision at all.

I switched to DSL almost a year ago because it finally came down to same price I was paying for dial-up.Plus they had dropped the year contract to get DSL so that is the main reason I got it.

We used to have dial up. But DH is a technogeek...and when the girls were old enough to work and complained about our slow connection, he worked out a deal that they would help pay for high speed internet. Of course, when they left home he kept it! I actually like it because some of the sites I visit are pretty graphics heavy.
As for cell phones...don't get me started. My girls say I need one. DH is contemplating getting one. But being the technogeek he wants to carry it around all the time. Which is fine by me...except he doesn't need one. I do...supposedly...they think. I like being incommunicado...you can get a lot done that way!2012 Challenges

I was thinking of starting a thread asking just this question. I wondered if I was the last person on dial-up!
While I was in college for the past few years I could get free dial-up internet through the college. It was fine. I could use a computer at the college for high speed internet. (I was frugal enough through college to graduate debt free!!) I was able to hang on to the free dial up for a year after I graduated, but then they discontinued the service.
Bf & I wanted to get high speed internet but were put off by the cost. Intro programs were $20/mo but went to $30-40/mo after intro period. Couldn't make a decision so we got copper.net dial up for $7.95/mo until we decide something else.
We are really trying to keep our regular monthly bills at a minimum.
We also have Tracfone cell phones. They cost about 10/mo to keep them running.

I do not have dial up and have not had it for years. I will keep my high speed got tired of being booted all the time.
I do not have a land line and only use my cell. I do have a plan which is shared but I am a busy on the go mom. If I am in a meeting, with the doctor or in church or Bible Study the ringer is set to vibrate I will peek to see who it is if during school hours if it's a school I answer if not voice mail is my friend and I will get back to the caller. I do use my bluetooth so the entire world does not hear my conversation.
I hate when people are on the phone and are loud. And you hear the entire conversation.
