    From WalMart's site:

"Stay Fit Food Storage using Cool Gears E-Z Freeze technology for the best products for the On-The-Go Consumer!"

    * Product is made specifically for the On the Go consumer.
    * Today's Economy is dictating for need for product to preserve and protect food products for those who enjoy home cooked meals at work, school, or play.
    * Cool Gear's patented Freezer Gel compartments allow the food product to be kept in a chilled environment until use, depending on actual storage.

Some of the grammar is a bit sketchy but I'm sure you get the idea lol. The lids have some sort of freezable gel packs on/in them that keep whatever is in the container cool.

Anyway, some of the smaller ones might be good for keeping cut fruit cooler/fresher. And I see one that's got a little dip container in the center.
I bought the three pack snack ones at Wal-mart today. It was $3.67 ( the purple ones in the the picture)

Freezing the lids as we speak. Little Miss is thinking about giving them a try tomorrow with sliced apples in them.

snacks are a tough one i think.

in the colder mths i send cheese sticks.

i buy the 100 calorie snack packs of cheeze its or the premade trail mixes. i also buy when on sale, the peanut butter pretzel snack bags. i have sent cheerios. dd always has a bag of almonds and peanuts in her backpack along w/ an xtra bottle of water just in case.

    popcorn. raisins.

i WONT giver her fruitrollups or fruit snacks or chips or cheetos (like she asks for) on occasion i will give her a rice crispie treat if she has a full good healthy brkfst!

A couple of things I do:

Mix pretzels with craisins in a container, dd15 loves this. Sometimes mix craisins with nuts.

I use a dehydrator often. Right now I have sliced apples and canned pineapple rings drying. I take the juice from the pineapple and dip the apples into it to keep them from turning brown. It also gives a hint of sweetness to tart apples.
I also dry bananas, strawberries or any other seasonal fruit.
