Default Food for thought: living well

The whole article is an interesting look at various forms of addictive behaviour that we tend to think of as normal. This quote stands out:
Already someone trying to live well would seem eccentrically abstemious in most of the US. That phenomenon is only going to become more pronounced. You can probably take it as a rule of thumb from now on that if people don't think you're weird, you're living badly.
    The article is here.

Most people think I'm weird, and that's a good thing.

My new food habits are being deemed as "obsessive" and I've been that weird girl who thinks too much, for YEARS.

Interesting article. Maybe a read a little too much into the article, but seems the simple life is more important than ever.

Guess I'm totally out of the norm here, which I usually am but about 75% disagree with the article and what he's saying. Found 2 things that I think he's being a hypocrite about. But that's just my opinion.
Bank of America is THE godfather of Hell with Wells Fargo running neck and neck. When the world ends the only things that will be left are cockroaches, Walmart, Wells Fargo and Bank of America. Not necessarily in that order. The order remains to be seen.

I think I have been weird for years but I guess it's become more "pronounced" lately as I have eliminated cable from my life, I buy clothes at Goodwill only when I need them, I have my own vegetable garden, I have a pre-paid cell phone that is totally bare bones, I don't drink alcohol hardly at all and have been buying a lot of organic foods.
I have recently started meditating in the morning and in the afternoon which by "normal" standards would be insulting. I am "non-doing", sitting there repeating my mantra over and and over again for an hour every day. I am not doing anything, "being productive" in any way. But let me tell you what. I have started paying attention to my life, my thoughts, my emotions, what I feel in relationship to other people, situations, things, etc. I have started paying attention to my choices and decisions, I feel I have been asleep at the wheel of life and all of a sudden I woke up and car was driving by itself. It has shown me how much I was letting life get by, without me doing much about it. It has thrown back at me the responsibility of making all the decisions if I wanted a good life for myself. It has scared the crap out of me and also gave the freedom that I can be in charge, think for myself, know myself and get to know others. I have no idea where it will take me, and that my friends, it's the most wonderful thing.
    Love and peace, Mea :-).
