Default Don't you just love it when you stuumble into a sale? I sure do

Have you stumbled into a sale lately?
Was it for something you needed and were planning to buy anyway?
Or was it a want you have been waiting for?
or did finding the sale cause you to spend money you hadn't planned on?

What are your feeling about sales?

I have been stumbling into sales lately for things I needed and was planning on buying anyway.

I love it when it happens like that.

Today I was planning on buying some "under the skirt shorts" for Little Miss. She pointed out that the ones she was wearing were to small and hurt her tummy. She ended up needed a few pairs of those and under the skirt long leggings too.

Our favorites are the 100% cotton ones at Gymboree so I head over to their website with my 20% off coupon I had received in the mail. I get to the site and they are having 30% off. Even better. Bought just what I needed.

Then I head to Lands End to buy Buddy is jeans that he reassly needs. I was disappointed that my free shipping codes I had ended. Then I see on the site Free shipping.

Awesome I love find "sale" and free shipping on things I need.

~I've been lucky enough to receive 2 $10 merchandise credit coupons from Kohl's in the last month.
I spent the first one getting 2 cotton jersey sheet sets for the kids.
I spent the next one on a cotton bathrobe and nightgown set for me.
Both things were very much needed and budgeted at $40, but were on sale and with my coupons cost $25 total. ~

I already posted this on my automotive thread, but we stumbled into a "sale" simply by being too cheap frugal to fork over $2,700 to rebuild the engine on our car. I managed to work the price all the way down to $1,850! Added bonus? Not having to deal with any more car salesmen One full week of that was way more than enough for me!

My latest 'good feeling' sales were for food.....

I usually refuse to pay the price of blueberries but they came down to something I would pay.......(with coupon) so I went to the store twice.......and now even have some in the freezer.

Same thing for Gatorade.....I use it a LOT in the summer (and really NEED it for cramping) and refused to pay the Costco price when I was there a couple months ago (and don't like the flavors in their brand....but did buy one case)......and now the stores have been having good sales on the 32 oz. size. Works for me! Headed to Safeway today to buy more.... (sale expires tomorrow)

I wanted a new purse for fall, so yesterday, I went to Target. I found a really cool Jaye Hersh totebag originally priced at $29.00 marked down to $7.49! I love it because it's black with brown handles which goes with either black or brown shoes. I know I'm showing my age here, but I still follow the notion that your shoes should match your handbag!

i dont buy it if i have no need for it for myself or as a gift no matter how good a deal so unexpected sales usually save me money .

    'todays unexpected deal was that
our one store has 80% lean for 1.88 a lb .

they had about 10 family packages that were also marked down an additional 2$ for quick sale ( they have these bright yellow coupons on them so when in the meat dept i search for those LOL )

so i got 5 ( like to leave some deals for others too )

they range 3.8-4.7 lbs and are ~ 20 lbs total

    20 lbs x 1.88 = 37.60 -

minus the 10$ in coupons = 27.60 for all the meat divided by 20 lbs = 1.38 a lb .

tomorrow i plan to brown it all up and get it in baggies for the freezer for sizes for future meals- sloppy joes- taco- taco salads add it to pasta and sauce etc etc

    Two sales lately.

One was the yarn clearance I posted about in other threads. It was 40% off, making a brand I really like working with affordable. I scooped up all the colors that didn't make me go "yuck!" - and that was a LOT of yarn. I didn't need it now, but I make afghans for a local hospice and go through a lot of it. It's my Christmas in August. I was really glad to find it and will enjoy in months, heck, probably years, to come.

The other was paper I was out of. It's the one filler paper I have found I can use my fountain pens with but it's not really cheap. Office Depot was out when I was in there a couple of weeks ago hunting it, but it's on sale this week, 25% off. They only had one today, but may get more. I hope so. It's a good chance to stock up a little.

My latest find was back to school shopping. My 11yo daughter managed to grow out of every single pair of pants she had. So we went to JcPenney. I would like to say that we found a ton of items at garage sales and thrift stores. But apparently people reallly hang on to the slim sizes around hear.

Back to the savings.... wer were able to purchase 7 pairs of jeans, 3 shorts 11 shirts a fall jacket for my daughter, a shirt for my husband, 2 pairs of jeans and 2 shirts for my son and spent $321.00.

Now for the savings..... drumroll please......

$561.00 is what we ended up saving. I have NEVER had an upside down savings like that..... I did that three weeks ago and am still bragging about it...even my hubby was impressed.

Ever since I started shopping for myself the sale sign has always been my friend.

At the grocery store I am constantly looking for managers specials on meat. I get all excited when I see meat on sale for half off. Then I stock up as much as possible even if it is not in the budget.

The end of season clearance sales are also my favorite for clothing. Sure there is a limit on what is available but it just makes me that much pickier when deciding what to buy if anything.
