    Default An Awesome Company! Excalibur

I just wanted to sing to you all the praises of Excalibur Dehydrators and the Company itself. They have a hardship program that you can write a letter to to get a discounted machine if you can't afford a new one. I sent this letter as follows...

Thank you for reading my letter. My name is Shana and I live in Northfield, Minnesota. I am a happily married wife to the love of my life. We have four kids and one on the way. Our oldest daughter just got married on June 20th. In January we will be back to four kids in the house. It was a huge surprise right before her wedding to find out I am pregnant. We are getting used to the idea slowly but surly. We lost our home last year to foreclosure. Our interest rates went up at the end of our arm and we couldn't refinance because our home had lost to much value. At the same time my husband got a pay cut at work. Thank goodness he still has his job! We had to move into an apartment. One good thing about the apartment is that we get a free garden plot, and we have used it to the full!!! I would love to have an Excalibur dehydrator to preserve all our garden bounty. I used to freeze a lot of things in our home because we had a huge freezer. Now we just have a small one above our fridge. I have been canning a lot but I would also love to dry. I am a member on several frugal forums and many people talk about how wonderful your dehydrators are!!! I love the fact that it would last us for many, many years. You have a great reputation!

I have been looking on your website at the refurbished ones and I would be so happy to have one it is just not in our budget. With all life has thrown our way and now a new baby to pay for this would be a great luxury to have, as well as practical. I could pay something for it just not $170. Please let me know what you could do for us. I will scream from the rooftops (frugal sites and friends) your generosity. We would also pay it forward when we are in the position to do so, even if it's just sharing our Summer bounty!

Thank you kindly for reading our letter and your time.

I thought I would get a discount on a refurbished one. Instead they sent a letter saying a lady returned one that she used once and wanted a different size. They are sending it to our family for free! All she asked is that we pay 29.99 for shipping. This is a 250.00 machine. I am so excited and I just wanted to share with you how great this company is.
I have five beautiful children and my wonderful best friend as my husband.

See, it never hurts to ask - all they could do was say no. And look how great it turned out!!! In the Tightwad Gazette this is called "putting the word out" when you need something.
