Do you stay of certain stores?
As some of you have seen, I am on a no spend diet
haha...There are two stores I do not go into because of lack of control - Walmart and Michaels. When I go into these stores, I just spend way too much on needless junk...It has certainly helped the budget!! Does anyone else do this?

Yep, walmart and Gordmans. Gordmans is kinda like a tjmaxx. Great for Christmas but when i once get in there i want to buy things. They have great prices.

The Yankee candle store.

But really I have self control and not a big shopper. I'm happy when I see my money go towards debt.

I just try to stay home, period, except for food. I know that when DH and I go out "for a few little things" on a Saturday we don't come home without spending at least $100.
I know what you mean about Michaels. I went to Hancock's today for 99c patterns and ended up with fabric and bias tape, which wasn't so bad as I did need them to finish other projects, but then I went to Joann's and there went another $30. I did confine myself to the clearance aisle, though... quilt batting @75% off....
If there's a Yankee Candle in town I don't want to know.

I hate shopping, period. I have been putting off going for new work pants for dh till school starts so I don't have to fight the masses of back to school shoppers. The only place I get weak is nurseries in the spring.
Right now I'm fighting the urge to go look at every vintage camp trailer within 200 miles!!!Stinkbug

I did that with yard sales. AT first I would only go to the Friday ones since there weren't many. Now I just don't go at all. I need to get rid of stuff not buy more!
I lived in an apartment for about 4yrs and that really taught me to re-think what I brought into the house. There was a lot less space than 5 rooms and a basement.

Sam's Club and craft stores!
I never come out of Sam's without spending at least $250, and even though I shop the clearance items at the crafts stores, it is an easy $50.

Yes, I avoid places like Target, Walmart and the malls for the spending money factor. But I also avoid CVS. It's a drug store that has "great deals".... you know, free shampoos, toothpaste, etc. You can get them "free" by matching sales, coupons and these "bonus bucks" that you use on your next purchase. problem is, I have trouble making it back for the next purchase before they expire, so I'm always seeing my money and hard work "going down the drain". So, although they have great deals, I don't even look at their ads anymore.

I'm not a BIG shopper, meaning I don't care to shop for sport or hobby or emotional reasons (I EAT for that--sigh)

I can go into WM or Tarjayyy and not be too tempted.
But I have banned myself from the yarn shops for the year 2010.______

Walmart for sure. I swear I go in that place for one thing and come out with all kinds of stuff I didnt plan on getting. Its always something we use but rarely something I really NEEDED. The fabric store is also a big, big, big no-no for me. I lose all common sense in that place and just want it all. ***sigh***

I am trying to stay out of thrift stores - so many great buys but that's more clutter for my house.
