She is catching on -- another money lesson for DD
There was a Consignment sale coming up.
So I had Little Miss go through the "handed down to us clothing box", to see what would work for her.
I told her I needed her to do this right now because the sale was in the morning and I needed to know what she needed.
She was saying no to almost all the hand me downs.
Then I casually say "Sure looks like we going to have lots of needs to fill". To which she smiled very big. Then I add "That doesn't leave much money leftover for any wants"
All of a sudden, she starts finding tons of things to fill her needs in the "Handed down to us box". She basically needed almost nothing after looking through the box.
The next morning on the way to drop her off at school. I said "I'll stop by the sale next and get what we need." In a quiet voice she says "and maybe a "just want" too?"
I ended up buying a Christmas present for her (a CD case) and a Fun t shirt with a funny dog on it.
I dog shirt that was not a need thus a "just want" was a small price to pay to teacher her a lesson about filling needs and wants.

WTG! I wish I could get stuff like this to sink into my step-daughter.
She went through a bunch of hand me downs that were perfect and even name brand. She wanted only a couple things! I said fine, don't think that I'm going out to buy you new clothes because these was not good enough.
*sigh* I blame her mom. She is a shopoholic and buys her whatever she wants.
