It shouldn't look like a thin rope. It should be applied on both sides of the glass and look like it's a triangle of putty wedged in between the glass and the wood.

Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

I'm currently caulking any seam I find anywhere. Especially if I can see daylight though it.
After it has thoroughly dried I will put up new plastic. I'm toying with a heavier plastic sold in the fabric section but I'm not sure if that is a good idea or not. Go to Home Depot and get 6 mil or better. Or go to the window area and ask for the kind for windows.

My DH did that last winter with our windows & we are now able to buy windows... this year.
We, too, could feel the cold WIND blowing thru the window & under our covers (in our own bed
) It gave us a little extra time to get the windows done. Not perfect but MUCH MUCH better!
Good luck!

Happy Mama says:
Our Solution: A very wise couple told us to take the insulation from a new computer , cut it out and carefully remove the edges , fill with the cut Styrofoam insulation . Tada!!! Works like a charm, my kitchen is so much warmer now and I am a happy camper in the winter.
Ok, I'm trying to picture this but can't. Insulation from a new computer? What am I missing here?
I am finding this thread very helpful, by the way.
