Thread: had to turn on...

Us, too. It hasn't been on continuously, but when the temps start to dip below 60F, the heat goes on. I like to keep the house between 68 and 72 in the winter. In the summer, we keep it between 75 and 80. The more humid it is, the cooler we keep it. We have an electric blanket, so during the winter we keep the house cooler, and the thermostat kicks back on around 5:00 am, to warm the house before my husband has to get up.

Had the A/C off and the doors and windows open for 1/2 of October. Had to turn the A/C BACK ON a couple of days ago due to record high temps. I turned the A/C off at 3 am this morning when the front came through.
The doors and windows are open again! The temp in the house has dropped from 78 to 75 and it is 57 outside.
According the weatherman we should have a warmer/drier winter. If that is true, we might get by without turning on the heat at all! Luckily hubby and I are both warm natured. I HATE walking into someone's house and having the dry heat hit me in the face and taking my breath away. I don't stay long at those homes!
I hope everybody stays warm!Mary

I turned ours on last week when I woke up and found the temp inside to be 63 degrees. I LOVE it cold, but was worried that DS might be too cold. So it's usually turned on in the mornings just to take the chill off. BUT, I have to say that our AC/Heat had been off for a month since the weather turned cooler so that will definitely help w/ the bills!

We normally try to hold out until Nov. 1st but my brother (who's been living in FL for the last 12yrs) is staying with us and was freezing so we turned it on a couple of weeks ago. At first, only at night now it's on all the time. But it's still only set at 62F during the day and 59F at night.

Not yet, no need to turn the heat on yet; possibly sometime in Jan, & early morning only.
When it gets cold, we usually use hot-water-bottles, put them under the blankets an hour before bed-time, nice & cozy for the whole night.

It's been on since mid-October. I have two children who are very sensitive to the cold, and I have cold is one of my asthma triggers. We have to maintain at least 68 degrees or bad things happen. We are winterizing as much as possible to make it not come on as often. It has been working some.
