Potatoes vs tater tots price comparison
From my grocery receipt last Friday
10 pound Russett potatoes 1.49 or about 15 cents a pound
Tater tots 1.79 ( two pounds) or about 90 cents a pound

Here are some more homemade tater tot recipes. Not sure , but you might like one better then the others. They are more or less made as balls since the official Tater Tot is actually extruded with a machine. One recipe does form it in a cigar shape and then cut. Maybe that would make it more TT looking.
