Do you involve your kids in the budgeting process
We never have, but I'm thinking about starting so that the kids can begin to see where the money goes. I think it also might help them understand the process that money doesn't grow on trees and you need to put some IN the bank before you can take some OUT of the bank.
Thoughts!!

Yes we did and still do- we started it when money got REALLY tight and we had to drastically change our money habits.
We felt it was only fair to involve the kids since it would affect them as well (they were around 4,6,9 at the time). We asked for their input as to what was important to them. One thing was that they wanted to eat hot lunches at school, rather than pack a lunch every day. In exchange, they agreed to thrift store clothing, less extra curricular activities (unless bartered) .
I would have never thought that hot lunches were important, but it helps them feel more a part of their peers, so. . . . they get the hot lunches and we cut back elsewhere.
They still get input in the budget and they are now 18, 15, and 13.
