Smile Who says your local store is more expensive?

I was looking for a dog collar for my pup. It is her 4th birtday and she needed a new collar.

I looked around and found a pretty one at the local pet store in town.

The price(regular price it wasn't on sale) was about the same as the plain ones at walmart and about the same as the plain ones at the farm and ranch store. Plus this one came with a lifetime guarantee.

So I bought it. I looked it up on line as it had a website. And if I had bought it on line it would have cost twice and much or three times as much depending on where I bought it then there would have been shipping too.

So don't be afraid to look at the local stores. They might just surprise you!

And if you curious what dog collar I bought here is a link

It's exciting to get such a bargain, isn't it? Sort of like "I won".

Yes, it is fun finding a bargain.

    BUT

What I found interesting is that this was a local store. Many people believe that local stores are more expensive. You hear "They can't compete with Walmart's low prices" I know I went in thinking I was going to pay more.

This store had regular priced not a sale price better quality leash/collar priced lower than Walmart's price for their lower quality collars.

Makes you wonder about the pricing of items. Local stores might just have a bad rap about being more expensive.

Way to go! By the way, I love Lupine collars...they come in such cool designs and they really do last forever, lol. Both my girlies have collars and matching leashes from Lupine and they've lasted well over 6 years.

We live 70 miles from the nearest Walmart, which is a Super Walmart. What we've found is, if we watch the ads for our local grocery stores, hardware stores, and discount store, we can almost always do better than Walmart's prices by shopping locally. And we don't have to put up with snotty clerks and messy, junky stores, nor do we have to pay for the gas to get there or wear ourselves out doing a marathon shopping trip.

When we shop in town our money stays in our community. It helps support our friends and neighbors who work here or own businesses here. We get excellent customer service from people who know our names and we know theirs, including the store managers who will stand and chat with us. Stuff like that matters to us. It's part of belonging to a real community.

Walmart has a reputation for being the least expensive place to buy things, but all that proves is how powerful advertising really is. We've proven to ourselves over and over again it's not reality.
