Sorry if it was mentioned already -- I just found this thread -- but if you have a Kroger, the shopper's card lets you get a $.10/gallon discount at Shell stations for every 100 points you get ($100 spent) and they just updated it to be $.10 off every gallon for every hundred, so if you racked up 300 points, you get $.30/gal discount, up to 1000 pts/$1 off! We have a Shell station just by our house so we do this. I'm going to start watching though if it's cheaper on certain days or what day of the week the price changes.

Since I work at home DH takes the car to work and back, but once a week I drive him and then do all my errands that day, mapping it so I do as little back-and-forth driving as possible. We live about as close as possible to DH's campus, about 5 miles away because this town is stretched along a highway.

I'm thankful our car gets 33mpg even in town (40+ on freeway)! Even so I use lots of "tricks" while driving to use up less gas, like shifting into neutral and rolling until I need to brake as soon as I see a red light, shifting up early, shifting down late, not accelerating faster than necessary (might piss some people off behind me, but then fine, they can spend their extra gas money passing me!)

Gas went back down here. I know parts of Canada were paying nearly $1.50 per litre when the prices were at the peak. Here in Edmonton, it's 1.119 per litre at the cheapest place. That's about $4.33 a gallon and I can see the refineries on my way to my inlaws house.
There is no public transportation here in the back woods....my vehicle gets 36 mpg and I can't afford to buy a Prius so that's out...Horse and Buggy is about the only other method and even then I'd have to leave a day early to be able to do a 65 mile 1 way commute every day.

We can buy a lot of gas for what it would cost us to replace either our van or our truck, and then we wouldn't have a van or a truck.

Gas would have to go a lot higher for it to be worthwhile for us to sell two paid-for, low mileage vehicles just to pay a little less at the pump. There's no way to make that math come out in our favor. Not to mention we have no intention of giving up our pop up camper so still need a tow vehicle for that.

The $3.56 place is now $3.54. Wish it were in this town instead of next over. Only time it makes sense is when going to Wal Mart.
Bank of America is THE godfather of Hell with Wells Fargo running neck and neck. When the world ends the only things that will be left are cockroaches, Walmart, Wells Fargo and Bank of America. Not necessarily in that order. The order remains to be seen.
