First grocery shopping of the month!
I have not been doing well in the grocery department. I don't have to buy meat, eggs, cheese, or even bread but I still spend way too much. My goal this month is to plan plan plan and to buy only what I need to buy. I was almost out of fresh fruits and veggies so it was time to go shopping.
Here's what I got at a local Iranian market. (They have amazing produce prices most of the time.)
-6pk pita bread (needed for dinner) $0.75
-2lbs of bananas $1.16
-3 tomatoes (1.2lbs) $1.80
-Head of cabbage (2.15lbs) $.54
-Head of Romaine lettuce $.49
-2 small orange bell peppers (.58lbs) $.98
-Big bunch of parsley $.20
-Small bunch of mint $.33
-Small bunch of dill $.50
-Bunch of Green onions $.14
-1.8lbs of zucchini $.72
-A little over a pound of Persian cucumbers (small ones) $.85
-2 huge yellow onions $.38
-6 apples $.89
-12 clementine oranges $.99
-A little over 2 pounds of grapes $3.11
Total: $13.83
The apples and oranges were individually wrapped and discounted. I guess they came from ripped packages or something, but they were cheaper that way and I like cheaper. I was going to buy a 3lb bag of clementines for $2.99, but I got 1.5lbs for $.99 instead! The apples weigh 2lbs, and the ones I was going to buy were $.89 a pound. I'm glad I found those deals!
I also went to Ralph's to get some plain yogurt for home made tzatziki sauce. I have coupons for free yogurt of a certain brand, so I had to go there. I found some great deals on ingredients to make egg mcmuffin sandwiches, so I bought enough to make two dozen for freezing! Here's that receipt:
-6pk of English muffins 3 @ $.79 each
-6pk of WW bagels $1.59
-8pk of frozen sausage patties 3 @ $.88 each (normally $2.49!)
-6 yogurts, all free with coupons.
Total: 6.60
Spent $20.43 on groceries that will hopefully last us until the end of the week. Can't wait to make those Egg McMuffins, too. Two dozen of them will cost me about $.28 a piece!

Usually any of the "ethnic" markets around here have pretty good prices. It's just that some of them are in areas that you may not want to venture into, heh.
