Adjusting Price Book
I am noticing I just don't seem to be able to match the prices I have in my price book. I am wondering if I need to bump them up? It feels like we may never see those prices again...

May be right on that one - can only hope. Thank goodness for keeping on to of the prices!!

my price book has been going up these last few months as well. I have put the new numbers in pencil and if after a couple weeks of the same, I write it in pen. I have also noticed an alarming trend the other day is that when the price stays the same, the box looks like it's the same size, but the weight has gone down.

I think in most areas we'll never see some of the prices we had in our price books from say 6 months to a year ago. On the other hand some of the things may cycle back down. Fresh/Seasonal products, especially if your grocer buys local, are always open to larger swings based on how well the "local" producer/farmers are doing and supply and demand.
Example: Tomatoes - currently I can't touch them even on a GREAT sale for under $1.50/60 a lb. If the garden and farms around here do decent I'll be able to pick them up 5 lbs for a dollar easy. I find dairy is more likey to swing in my area based on the surrounding dairy farms as well.

I don't think they are going to go down. If anything maybe a penny or two but never like they were a year ago or even 6 months. Get a white out tape, easier.
Example, a year ago zuchinni and squash were .79cents lb. Now they are $1.99 lb. 6 months ago $1.49. Don't think we're going to see the 79 cents again. Once in awhile someone will have a roadside stand for awhile. Love those.

Niko-by the end of summer people are hiding zucchini in each others cars and on the front porch. Like a bizarre game of hot potato. They were 3/1. Now prob. 2/1. this summer at the farm market. My point is-regional and seasonal.
I can get things about the same cost it just takes more doing (coupons, deals or diff. lower end stores) .
But no I don't thinks will ever be the same. Like a balloon popping.

UGH! I just paid $3.60 for 5 or 6 that weren't very big. We don't have a farmers market....well, take that back. there's one in the "circle" once a month. Found out and got excited. Went and all I found were restaurant set up, and arts and crafts...definitely not what I was thinking a farmers market was. Really disappointed. I'd love to find them even 2 for a buck. On the other hand we can get half flat of strawberries for $5. Or did. Don't know if the stands still have them. The stands keep moving....people give up and leave.

Niko-wish we could trade thru the printer. Right now strawberries are waxy rubber things here. Winter and fresh fruit are mutually exclusive concepts. So I buy frozen. I got a sale $7.99/4# that was $2. off at GFS.
Yeah up north zucchinis are a big joke. The plants just produce and produce. Esp. if you pick them small. I must have gotten 50 off 2-3 plants until the yellow squash got downy mildew that blew up from Katrina.
Tropical fruit is another thing.I would love to try more but its not good up here. Unless maybe at Costco. Certainly not the groc. But that is costly. Or like nuts. We only have Black Walnuts or the occasional hickory. My GF from J. high would complain about pecans everywhere. I wish. $5.# or more always.

I gave up on my price book, I must admit. Prices have gone through the roof and are still going higher. Though I must admit this week I did find plum tomatoes for 49 cents a pound! They were right on the edge of being overripe. That didn't matter. I took 8 or 9 lbs. and froze them pronto! My tomatoes for the spring.

Stopped at a road side market on the way home tonight. They had squash, no zuchinni. $1 each. Actually that's higher than the store was. I bought 5 or 6 squash for $3.60 and the roadside would have been 5 to 6 bucks. Now the roadside were larger but still think higher.
Tomato baskets were $3 which was good for here. Had Romas but didn't price those...think they are $1.50 or $2..maybe.
Seedless watermelon was $3. Mangoes were $1 each and I haven't bought any of those for a long time so don't know if that's good or bad. Last I bought were $1 so probably good price. Hubby got me 3 and I'm going to dehydrate them and see if it's a good healthy snack.
Going to start a new price book when I can go to the store by myself. Kid gets impatient after a couple hours and hubby costs me way to much to take him with me. WAY TO MUCH!Bank of America is THE godfather of Hell with Wells Fargo running neck and neck. I don't use my price book anymore. The prices increase each week now. I can't wait until the garden can be planted so I won't have to buy fresh veggies at the supermarket. Just like FW, our strawberries are waxy and tropical fruits are both out of my price range and have no flavor! They are picked way to early before being shipped here.
I would suggest using pencil. The prices are just going to keep increasing so you better be able to erase it.
