    Default Am I nitpicking?

....and if I am, is it worth it just on principle?

Yesterday I was shopping in a sale box at a local craft store for card making/scrapbook paper. The sign on the box said 40-69 cents. After much searching, I found 8 sheets that I wanted. Did some more shopping and then checked out.

The register prices on the paper ranged from 49 to 99 cents. I asked the cashier about it and she verified what I had seen on the sign. When she asked an associate about this, the associate said that the price was those prices and higher - then she turned her back on my cashier. I bought the sheets anyway since I had spent so much time choosing them.

Today I had a few minutes to spare and wrote a letter to the store about the situation. My reasoning is that if it were my store I would want to know (yes, we have had our own stores).

What do you think? Send or not?

Send...that's bull. My thought would be they were either betting everyone would do what you did, buy anyway OR the cashier didn't give a hoot. If the manager were there I'd have asked for him/her.
    Probaby the cashier didn't care.

Mahalo for your votes. Think I am starting to get on all these little things that we all are subject to - no more.

    Send.

I used to work in a seafood store and the cost of the crabs were hand written on the board, on the register and on the bag that the person bought they would frequently never match and we always went with the one on the board that the public saw, even though the newly sorted crabs may have been sized bigger and the sign never changed. LOL It didn't really matter to me what the price was so we went with the advertised price.

Sending the letter is a great way to let the store know what the issue is I would recommend you send it to the manager as well as the owner and keep a copy for yourself.

Id send the letter but if the store's not too far, I'd go and take pic of the sign, your price stickers on the sheets and send it in with your letter along with a copy of your receipt. Whats the point of the sale if they're not going to honour it? False advertising to get you in?

In OKlahoma it is illegal to post one price and sell at another. I've caught several places that don't use bar coding doing that and I always say something. I don't know how it in Hawaii though. Hobby Lobby here is the worst to do those things.

I did take a picture of the sign with my phone and in my letter I offered to send them a copy if they wanted to see it. I also enclosed a copy of the receipt.

I thought about just leaving them FF and would have if the store were in town. Decided that I was still getting a good deal - just the principle of the thing!!

Mahalo - love the fact that we are people of principles - really - for too long I let everything go buy and move on - well I have time now and the drive to choose what is important.

Send it. I omce brought some 2x4 at home depot and was charged a few pennies extra per boards well I took them all back to the store. That was my money they were cheating me out of. But then I will return an over payment too since most people will get in trouble if they are short. If they posted one price and charged you another its wrong. Send them the letter.
