I think we all feel the stress of it at times.
I love the cheesecake idea peanut! I think I'll work on the idea of dessert & friends at home vs. going out.

Hang in there
Sometimes I think it just gets to be tiring
Maybe you can try to find a little something that will perk you up
. New recipe, a nice walk, a good book, redbox movie (only .99), game night with friends....
One year... I got 2 tires for my birthday because I needed them and that was the only money available to get them. Not fun but sometime you have to do what you have to do. And it sucks.Frugalista Mama to DD 12 & DS 8

We use redbox here they are $1 plus tax per night. I have not yet turned them in late. The library lets you borrow for free but if you are late it is $1 per video per day just like rebox.
We just noticed that redbox now has video games too. I wonder what the price is on those and how many nights you get to keep them."Everyday as your walking down the street, everybody that you met has an original point of view" -Arthur PBS

I thought there was a thread about this and people posted ideas. I like to reward myself with mini treats. Spend a little mad money- I like to get a book or lotion, etc. I also will shop and then put it all back as I realize I have more than enough. Other things I do is buy gift cards and then keep them for gifts for the holiday. I do have a spending urge so I probably have to work harder at it than others.

Frugal-fannie: yeah, there are a few threads about this. I tried not to repeat my long list of ideas here. I just posted it under "Frugal Entertainment" in Frugal Living again. I post it about once a year to keep it current for the newbies. ETA: somewhere in the archives, long long ago, I started a thread on nurturing oneself as well, that had a lot of good ideas.

Take time away.
Leave the house, go to the park - I find that when away from all my 'stuff' I'm more condusive to the deep thoughts
You need to decide your true inner goals + plans
Once you have that down, it will energize you daily.
The big trick of it is: be entirely honest w/ yourself
Decide what exactly it is that you truly want/need
Then...
Go for it
Good luck.

Great thread Imagine, you've expressed the pain and frustration that a lot of us have/are going through. I am so glad that your DH bought clothing - gotta be a big help to you both!!
For me - music is a big key - I love singing - by myself of course
and favorite fragrances and being with my preschoolers. And then there are things that make me giggle or laugh out loud.
Take care my friend and keep in touch!!Travel light. The baggage of the past can only hold you back.

I start to feel weary also but listening to DR's debt-free Friday show helps me stay focused for the weekend.
It was much easier to stay on track when we were paying off the credit cards... things have been a little crazy for us these last few months, but we're back to snowballing our debt, and have a goal of paying off a student loan and the car by the end of the summer. I have no idea how we'll do it, but mentally I need a big challenge to keep up with the intensity.
But I am in serious need of doing something nice for myself like a pedicure or something (and not an at-home one!)... but I just can't bring myself to "waste" money on myself anymore...BS1: $1000/$1000
BS2:
CC: $0/ $15884
Other Debt: $0/2487
Car Loan: $0/11800
SLs: $20368/54031
Total Consumer Debt= $20,368/81825
Timeline:
10/09 - DH lost Job.
1/10 - spent 20k to finish DHs degree
4/10 - Found DR and got Gazelle Intense!!
1/11 - Paid off last CC!
2/11 - Downsized from 2400 to 600 sf!
10/11- Paid off car 3 yrs early!
1/12 - Paid off DH's Education!
Next Goal: Own My Degree!
