    Default Question about hotel breakfasts

Is it wrong to snag an extra yogurt and banana for toddler snack later?

Hmmm tough question... technically you're supposed to eat it when you're there, aren't you? But I'm sure if you asked, they'd be happy to give it to you. After all, they're in the hospitality business!

We did it. We are neat, don't leave garbage anywhere, were gone all day. So,a bucks worth of nothing didn't seem like much for $100. a night plus.
Admittedly we really chowed before we checked out to get home w/o eating out. Usually because we blew our vacation money in their town.
I used to BBQ in the back for lunch too before some dummy caused a fire and they took it out.

Personally I see nothing wrong with taking one or two items 'for the road'. It's there for hotel guests to enjoy and I'm sure 2 hours after you've left the hotel and are enjoying that snack later, you're thinking of the hotel that provided it to you for free. It works in their favor as free promotion. They will be known as 'that hotel that let me take an extra ___ for the road'. Plus, how do they know if you're going to eat it on the road or up in the hotel room? I think its kind of expected.

I've had the complimentary breakfast and then taken one of the prepared 'breakfast to go' bags for guests on my way out. Those are usually at the concierge desk in a basket. The front desk person encouraged us to take one 'for the road' since its only an apple, a banana, juice box and a granola bar.

I do however have a problem with people hoarding free things for later not giving the current and existing guests in line a chance to have their own breakfasts. Or whats worse, a person already sitting and eating when you arrive, eat and leave. Then at check out 2 hours later, they are STILL sitting there eating. Thats a bit much.

Well, at 179 a night, I decided snagging an extra yogurt, banana, and granola bar was okay since hubs wasn't hungry.

    Much more reasonable hotel tonight.

We were traveling to FSU to watch the Aggies play the Seminoles in college baseball.

If it is not abused most hotels that provide the breakfast buffet of muffins, juice, coffee, and fruit are not going to mind. I have been a few places where they have had to put signs up saying you cannot take food out of the dining area, though.

We spent two weeks last month at a Residence Inn. We took 2 milks and a banana every day for our daughter to have throughout the day. At $179 a night I did not feel one bit bad.

If there are no signs saying food cannot be taken out of the dining room, I see no problem with it.

I agree, taking 1 or 2 items is no big deal, bringing in a bag and filling it up is a big deal.

I always grab a piece of fruit and a muffin for the road. It never fails that my kids get "snacky" 15 miles down the road. I think grabbing all the pastries while people stand there is super rude though. I had a guy do that to me on last years summer road trip.

I prefer to take the dollar handtowels. They come in handy later on for scrap rags.My husband has a patient that will steal the toilet paper in the restroom on every office visit.Maybe it is her way of compensating for what she feels are high bills. We just lock the toilet paper cabinet now when she comes. One roll of tp, that gives her comfort, well it is okay.

i think it's okay as long as there's no signs against removing food from the dining area and you're not filling up a bag.

I took a muffin or banana on a couple of occasions when I stayed a week in a motel while dh was in the hospital. Partly it was because it was an upsetting time and I wasn't always able to eat what I'd chosen and didn't want to waste it. Other times I just wanted the banana for a snack later at the hospital. I was in a strange town and didn't know where there was a store and didn't want to drive around on icy streets. I'd brought food from home and had a fridge & microwave in my room so I didn't have to go out for meals. I don't think the management objected to my taking a banana or a muffin a couple of time.
