    Default Produce Victory

My local produce store had the most awesome discounts today.

I got 10 pounds of mushrooms for 1.50, 4 quart baskets of white onions for 2.00, 5 pounds of bananas for .50, 4 pounds of roma tomatoes for 2.00, and 12 yellow, green, and red bell peppers for 2.00.

I peeled and froze the bananas for making muffins and bread. Roasted the onions to put in jars and use for sandwiches and pizzas. Will use the tomatoes, some of the peppers, and some of the roasted onions for a salsa. Sauteed the mushrooms and froze them in 1 cup servings.

Now that I am a SAHM who will be going to grad school, I am searching out these sales.

    What great prices!!!

Way to go.....our produce here is a killer.

If I find bananas for 59 cents a pound, that is good.!!

when I think of myself posting here 3 years ago, and not knowing how to cook or save money....I realize how far I have come.

I am proud of myself. I can make dinner every night now, and I don't repeat meals in a two week period. And I am not using the frozen and heat meals as part of this.

I've learned to cook and shop and I feel good about that.

I still love my shoes and purses and will sub this fall in schools if I feel the need for a new Coach purse or Prada heels. But I don't have to spend 800-1K a month on food and delivery and take out. That is a major thing for me.
