Frugal is me (most of the time).

Cheap or miserly is my ex. No fun, no spending, no getting rid of stuff EVER no matter how broken down it is (to the extent of bringing crap back in from the trash...such as a peeling teflon pan that is a HEALTH hazard)

Frugal is avoiding impulsive purchases. Planning ahead. Resourcefulness. Buying quality products that will hold up the test of time~after money saved.

Cheap is buying low grade. No real plan for the future. Doesn't include resourcefuless.... cheap is a cheap way of livin, frugal is the way of life!

Frugal is looking for the best deal you can. Cheap is refusing to pay full price ever, even if you can afford otherwise and/or your bargain is at another's expense.

Example: DH & I lived in FL, near Tampa. A family member came to visit, wanted to go to Disney and stay there. Okay, we got a 2 bedroom room for one night. NOrmally, we wouldn't have gotten a room at all, as we lived about 1 hour from Disney. When the bill came, the family member paid 1/3 the bill, as "There are 2 of you." [Because of "deals" like this (and the person in question is a millionaire) no one in the family will travel with the person btw.)

Frugal? We would have stayed home and saved our $$$. Cheap? Get someone else to subsidize something YOU want to do....
