Starting Sunday shoprite will be selling one subject notebooks for $.19. So will probably pick up a few just to have them on hand.

As I said, hubby works at the high school ~ It amazes me how many of the supplies show up in the lost and found with in the first month of the start of school and aren't claimed..

At the end of this last school year they had at least 6 extra large trash bags full of unclaimed lost and found ~ jackets, binders, notebooks, shoes, calculators, etc..

When one of my kids came home and said they lost their jacket, etc., we would go to the school the next day looking for it.. There is a lot of waste goin on now a days.. Everyone knows where the lost and found is, but not many seem to check it.. Lotta friends my kids knew wouldn't put in the effort cos' their parents would just buy a new one.. Some of us don't have the financial freedom to do that, but I also think it doesn't teach your kid anything by just replacing it with no effort to find the lost one..

this will be our first year buying supplies for a high schooler (dd14)......and our (private) school also waits until the first day of class to let you know what you need. all i'm sure of is that they need some fancy expensive graphing calculator (retails for about $100)......so i promptly hopped on ebay and found a gently used one and won it for $47. one heck of a savings!

my ds(12) will be in 6th grade, but is still in the same (private) school that my daughter went to, so i'm familiar with his list.

every year i make sure to stock up on tons of paper, notebooks, folders, rulers, pens & pencils. we also have tons of markers, crayons, glue, etc.

i'm hoping this year won't be too bad on the bank account........their school tuition is bad enough!

Our Office max had coupons on some things in the sunday paper. We needed some things here so I went. The total before the coupons was almost $70. After the coupons it was only $49. I had a gift card I was trying to use up and I still have $4 on the darn thing!

I got a 12 pack of permanant markers for $1. Also some one subject notebooks for $1, poly binders for $1, and they had a buy one get the other 1/2 price deal on post-it notes. They also had a 10 pack of Bic inkpens for $1 a pack.

I stocked up on #2 pencils and ink pens. Also grabbed some large index cards.

This time of the year is a great time to stock up on office supplies and storage containers even if you don't have kids.

    Default Fashion Fantasy Game

This may be off-topic, but has anyone else heard about the Fashion Fantasy Game? I heard it was the hottest thing for tweens and teens this summer. Back when I was a kid, the focus of summer was school supplies. Now it's video games.

    Any thoughts?
