I've dehydrated lean hamburger but made jerky out of it. Actually makes very good jerky. Seasoning of your choice...thin strips laid out and voila! Jerky.
If you're not going for years that may be an option...or just something to try while you're doing the other. I didn't use additional salt tho. Can't have it in quanity.Bank of America is THE godfather of Hell with Wells Fargo running neck and neck. When the world ends the only things that will be left are cockroaches, Walmart, Wells Fargo and Bank of America. Not necessarily in that order. The order remains to be seen.

I've made beef jerky using steak but never hamburger.I don't own the jerky gun..These crumbles you can use in replace of anything that uses hamburger..ie..soup,sauce,taco's ect..I want to try this as a added prep item.

I've canned butter before, and thought it was successful. BUT after a couple of years, something has gone a little wrong. Butter has gone bad, although the seals are all intact. :/

Never did the butter thing, but "gravel" (dehydrated ground beef) is extremely common and almost a staple in the ultra-light backpacking and canoeing groups. I brown it up, rinse it off with hot water and dry away. Done plain ground beef and a few different seasoned versions. I like teriyaki quite a bit, soy sauce, honey, garlic powder, ginger, and black pepper, all kind of by taste. Some people recommend mixing in bread crumbs as its just about done cooking before drying it, claim it rehydrates better. I've never tried it, but probably will one of these days. I have a few pounds worth in the freezer waiting for hunting season.

Hmmm...never heard of canning butter. I freeze butter for future use. Dehydrated beef crumbles I've known about for years. Like Low-1 says, they've been around in the backpacking foodstuff for years.

I didn't like the jerky hamburger at all.......and ended up tossing most of it............friends didn't like it either. The flavor was 'okay' but the texture was YUK............
I would suggest making just a small batch to see if you like it.
Sounds like the butter might keep better when frozen.........I have used frozen butter past the exp. date. Guess I will keep freezing it.
