    Red face I got caught

I got caught impulse buying today. Hubby reminded me that we need to watch it and the my will power was lacking.

I went to the store for bread ( we were out ) while there I picked up a generic 2 liter of soda ( 75 cents) and a box of cookie in the reduced for quick sale (50 cents)

Hubby is right. It is those impulse buys and small leaks that add up.

So now I'm confessing here and with guilt enjoying my yummy soda. (the cookies will be for the children- lunch box treats)

I also rechecked my next weekly shopping list, everything is from the four food groups except a bag of chip (1.19) and soda (59 cents) for labor day (and the Miracle Whip for the homemade coleslaw lol)

Enjoy your soda and your children will enjoy the cookies. They were bargains, so no guilt!

I am so bad about not sticking to my list!! Good for your hubby for keeping you on the straight and narrow, and good for you for giving him his props.

Splurge on healthy items, it's easier to justify. It's a win-win with lowering dr bills in the long run.

I'm sure we will enjoy them. Hubby is right though it is those bargain and splurges that make budgets hurt.

We will enjoy them now and I will be more conscious and conservative next time I am at the store.

What does "giving him his props" mean?

Does it mean giving credit where credit is due?

That is what Hubby said more carrots and veggies sticks.
More ants on a log LOL

I saw a trick once where a lady cut the celery and carrots in a way and when she put them in ice water they curled. It was cool but I do not remember how she did it.

Anyone know how to do that?

Yes, that's what it means...giving him his proper respect.

And I'm the impulse buy police in my house...they get tired of hearing me say "is it on the list".

I say to add ice cream to your next shopping trip. Then you can make ice cream floats and really live it up while feeling guilty. Might as well have some fun.

Take it easy on yourself. The little things do add up but it wasn't as if you were paying full price on your splurges. Sounds as if you found some great bargains for a treat.

I agree with Shoiji! It was a teeny tiny slip, we all have them.

Do what I do, just make sure to put the soda and cookies on your list!

I am sure you have a little room in your grocery budget to gover 1.25 in impulse buys. Not like you bought a new mink coat or anything and its not like you purchased somethign that you are going to throw away.

btw, do you have a food processor? I have a recipe for mayo that you may like. Much cheaper than buying it. mine is a rip off of Dukes and tastes exactly like it. I think you just need to add a little sugar to get it to mircle whip. Let me know if you are interested.
