    Default Contretemps at WalMart today

Boy howdy, do they frost my cookies.

The male cashier shortchanged me a $2.00 coupon and after I insisted on a supervisor, his immediate supervisor insisted she couldn't open the "draw" to check!

I had to pay the inflated price and the draw pops open and there's the $2.00 coupon. In the meantime, the super has walked away. I made the cashier bring her back. NOW, she apologizes.

The argument brings over a gentleman with higher authority and he apologized and asked what he could do to keep me as a store customer. Finally, someone who knows their responsibilities.

There's a lot of reasons I don't shop Walmart, the people they hire being one of them. Sorry you had problems, I know a lot of places there aren't other choices of places to shop.

I really dislike Wal-Mart as a corporation. I have a couple of friends who have worked there and their poor employees are so mistreated. As a company, you should treat your employees respectfully if you expect them to treat your customers respectfully. You should also enable the employees to make things right for the customer, as opposed to insisting they stick to "policy." Empower them to satisfy the customers to a certain point.

What did the manager do to make you happy, Ramona?

I told him I was fine, it was over and I was proven right.

I did send an email of complaint through the corporate website.

Ramona - I'm so glad you held your ground. Complaints need to be written down and sent to the companies. Problems at school - write down your concerns and send to the principal.

Written complaints cannot be ignored as easily as verbal ones.
Travel light. The baggage of the past can only hold you back.

You have to watch them at Walmart. I don't like to shop there. I try my best to go anywhere else rather than go there. What is wrong with them checking??? I thought the customer was always right!
I hope you have other options to shop.

Agree about Walmart. We avoid them, too. And my daughter works for them.

On the flip side, I just fired off an e to Corporate about the excellent service we've always gotten at our "local" Lowe's (70 miles away.) We remodeled our kitchen last winter and they were immensely helpful, knowledgeable, always willing to go the extra mile even if it meant more work for them, helped us by phone when things had to be done from home, etc. And they actually know what they're talking about, instead trying to BS us when it's obvious they don't have a clue like another big box store.

The sad part of shopping at that particular Lowe's is that then we usually have to go across the highway to shop at Walmart for the few things we still buy there. It's a world of difference in how we're treated at the two stores.

So glad you held your ground! I used to be a WM shopper almost exclusively too. Now I do everything I can to avoid it! I now just ask hubby to stop on his way home to pick up the few things I can't get elsewhere. Also learned that I do much better price-wise at my Publix with my coupons and their BOGO sales.

    Proud for you!!

I've never seen Walmart as being so much lower in prices than other places. We can do better shopping specials and loss leaders at our local groceries than at WM. One of our grocery stores is a family-owned business, the other is a regional chain of maybe ten stores. So much for WM's big-chain buying power. Besides, WMs meat is terrible and just try getting an actual butcher to cut up your ten-pound pork loin and wrap it in freezer paper for you, or get the manager to answer your questions personally or order specialty items they don't normally carry or getting your checks cashed for free, usually by the cashier while you're checking out your stuff instead of having to go to customer service and waste time. In fact, try to get a WM employee to do much of anything for you. WM's so-called lower prices are an illusion, at least for us, and we're not fooled by their advertising.

So we do our best to keep our money in town, where people know us by name and actually thank us for shopping with them.

Mine doesn't even have fresh foods, I only go to buy their Equate brand of vitamins, pain relievers and the like. My coupons were for baby powder and personal products and they totaled $7.00 worth of coupons.

If possible, send your letter to two different people in the same dept/company. Always keep a copy of your letter for your own records. Its just as easy to make a written letter disappear as a convo that 'never happened'.
