My goal for October
I'm setting a goal to only use one tank of gas for the entire month. I'm going to fill up on the first, which should cost about $45 if its on E by then. One tank will get me about 400 miles, which seems like a lot. I'm home with the girls all day, and often I get bored and pile everyone into the car and drive to the next town over (30 miles round trip). Now that we are headed towards fall we are having our nice Indian summer weather, so my goal is to get the stroller out and do more walking, whether its down the block to the park or driving a couple miles to the beach and hitting the boardwalk. Does anyone have a similar challenge for themselves or care to join me?

I know I couldn't do it. I hope you're successful though. My van fills up over $100 of gas, and I'm lucky if I can last two weeks without filling up again. With all the errands I do, running my daughters to their various activities and going to playgroups with my daycare kids this goal would be impossible.
An obstacle is what comes up when you lose sight of your goal.

Great goal! I know I couldn't do it with all the activities I'm involved in and the people I'm committed to driving to them. But come winter it will be easier. DH will be taking the car to work. I won't be able to get out.

~Great idea! How much gas do you usually use?
I usually put gas in three times a month but I don't fill it. I'll try to cut back to just two times. I did a gas challenge earlier this year. I usually put in $25 but I put in $20 instead. It helped!
I'll attempt to cut my usage by 50%. So my goal is $40 for October. Now that gas is going down again, this should be easier.

This is a great challenge! It sounds next to impossible to me
with all the school activity running (>5x weekly) and work commuting (60 miles/4x weekly) that I'm committed to doing. But.... I think I'll look at our average weekly mileage and see if I can perhaps trim that down??? It may force me to be *creative* about combining trips
since we live a couple miles from town so every jaunt into town for milk can easily cost me 5 miles minimum.

I'll join you...I have a small SUV and to fill it costs $80 dollars...don't do much out of town driving...Sophie has PreK 3 afternoons a week and we have playgroup 2x a week...I'll combine my errands into one trip if possible(shopping after dropping Sophie off at school). So my goal for October is to make it at least 3 weeks before filling up.

I filled up three times this month
That is with some errand running, some running my sister on errands, but mostly just driving out of boredom. Basically I can stay at home as much as my sanity allows me (with a four month old and rambunctious eighteen month old we shall see). The grocery store is less than a mile away, a visit to my moms is a mile and a half. So as long as I keep myself in check its definitely possible!

I hope you can do it. I try to conserve on gas by only going to town one day a week to do what I need to do. That helps plus I'm not spending extra money eating out or just shopping for the sake of shopping. Only other trips I know I will be taking are church Sunday and Sunday night.

Great goal! I am a little spoiled, in that I have a work car and the gas is paid by my company, so I rarely have to use my personal pick-up truck. I fill up the tank about once every three months, or if I have to drive out of town to visit family.
I was trying to think of a goal that would be equivalent, but I think I've already got them all covered in other challenge threads here!

I had to run a couple errands today, and since it was on E I went ahead and filled up for the month- $44.66. So in the next 33 days if I drive no more than 11 miles a day I can make it. I was a little surprised today to see that just running my usual loop of errands around town is 16 miles round trip, so I guess I will make that an every other day thing now.
