Angry A not so frugal Monday

My eyeglasses needed new nose pads. I used some of my CVS ECB's to buy a kit.

Stupidly, I used Super Glue and got it on my lenses in three places!

Oh well, I haven't had an eye exam since 2006 and I want new frames so Thursday will be a big spend day for me.

Oh that stinks. Have you thought about ordering your glasses from zennioptical.com? I got my exam for $50.00 at a local place and had them measure my pupil distance. Then I took the RX and ordered a complete pair of glasses & a complete pair of Rx Sunglasses with shipping for $55.00 total.

I have "Coke bottle" lenses, and had them shaved down also. Much less then my mom spent getting the glasses from the place we had our eye exam done, she spent almost $600 on 1 pair!

Oh no! Can you try removing the glue from the glass with acetone (nail polish remover). Then you can perhaps keep the lenses and get new frames, or just have a good backup pair.

Medical labs have something that dissolves superglue.
Not that I ever accidentally glued my finger to my name tag in a vain attempt to repair it while working in the ICU or anything..... *whistles while slinking away*

I've never had glasses made online and feel a little uneasy about it, but no way will I be paying $600 !! If I don't like the price of frames at the eye doctor, I'll just take the written prescription and get new frames at WalMart or something.

I tried nail polish remover and rubbing alcohol, totally useless. I even tried an online tip to use oil .

Try putting the glasses in the freezer for a while, then using a knife to pop the glue off while still frozen.

I was stuck to my name tag (the kind with a pin no less) for almost an hour while everyone from the maintanence man to the nursing supervisor had a good laugh and finally set me free!!

That was years ago, and I see the maint. guy in Walmart now and then - he STILL ribs me about it.
