Ugh
makes me sad, I am such a peanut butter aholic it isn't funny. Guess I will need to add to my stock
and hope it goes down, (although that is doubtful, usually once something goes up, it never comes back down. )

Weird. It was on sale for .99 for a 16-oz jar this week at my local store. I stocked up because of this post. We eat SOME but not a lot.

Keep in mind, it can be frozen and when thawed, has no changes in taste or texture.

Thank you Spirit Deer, I did not know that it could be frozen, I guess because it is never here long enough to worry about it.
I like peanut butter what can I say. I usually have at least 4 jars on the shelf, plus the one that is being used in the kitchen. That is about a month supply.

Thankful that I have a stash in my stockpile. I BET the price won't go down when they have a good crop of peanuts next year.

I don't know how you guys feel about buying this stuff online, but I got a pretty good deal on 3 jars of peter pan pb at amazon.com.
They're 40oz jars for 11.58 (if you use swagbucks or have any amazon kindle special offers it's a GREAT deal--I used a $5 off $10 kindle special offer and was able to get those 3 40oz jars for $6.58 shipped using amazon prime free shipping--total $0.05/oz) and they have a 1/2013 expiration date.

I was in a store that sells to restaurants this morning. They carry the bigger containers of food. They had a 5 pound plastic bucket of peanut butter for $ 8.95 . Which is less than $ 2 a pound. I guess I need to double check my inventory to see what I have for peanut butter.
Also remember the price of cotton went up, and some farmers who would normally grow peanuts, grew cotton to sell.
They can't blame a small crop, all on the weather this summer.
Also I was reading that the government is looking to cut back on the subsidies given to farmers for different crops. So if the farmer can't get some help from the government, there may be more cutbacks in what farmers will plant in the future.
If you don't already garden, you want to give some serious thought to growing some of your own food. Nothing is going to go down in price. And then what food, you do need to buy, you need to be buying ahead when you see a sale.--------My signature--------
