Default A major frugal score to be proud of. :)

DH told me about a silent auction at his work about a month ago for items like tv stands, washers, dryers, etc. He put in a bid on two things: a tv stand (that retails for about $500) and a dryer (which retails for between $1200 and $1500).

Last night, he comes home and tells me that he won the silent auction on the dryer for $55! The only conceivable thing wrong with it is that there's a dent on the top.

It's a Whirlpool Duet dryer and I couldn't be happier with it.

Now we just have to get the thing home.

Wow! Way to go! That is fantastic. $55...that is beyond frugal.

Oooo... I have a Whirlpool Duet washer and dryer. I love them! Good job on getting the dryer for such a good price! And, you know, you move it a few times and it gets dents in it anyway.

Hint: Open the dryer up every few years and clean out the lint that accumulates inside the machine. We kept having a burning smell and DH took it apart. I swear that we got 20 lbs of lint out of the inside of the machine. And, we only use it in the winter time because I hang my clothes out once it gets above 50F (Feb or March through Oct or Nov).

That's an awesome tip! Thank you so much for sharing that with me.

I'd love it if there was a washer too, but I'm thankful there's even a dryer coming home sometime soon that didn't force us to take out a loan on it.

This is the one that he got, based off of the list of part numbers he brought home:
