Question Do you feel like your quality of life is better by being thrifty?

I can definitely say that since I fell off the frugal wagon a few months ago, my life has become more hectic, and out of control, and the quality isn't near as good as when I was more thrifty. The only way I can explain this is that I simply started to not run this household like I was, and stopped caring so much about bills, money, etc making my life more stressful because money is running like water right now.

Is your quality of life better because of your being frugal?

I think it is. I don't have the stress of trying to "keep up with the Joneses" because I realize that I am just as happy, if not more so, without all the extra "stuff" that everyone seems to need. I'm not in debt, like so many of the people that I work with, and doing frugal things makes me proud and happy. I enjoy saving money and getting great deals and bargains. It is a very satisfying way of life for me.

Of course it's better! I spend more time with friends, teaching them how to be frugal too! I figure that if I can help someone else make his/her money go further, it makes my life better too! Plus, our family has more money to spend on other things besides necessities if I can make the necessity money go further.

Ours definitely is better. Being thrifty for the past couple of years helped to get us through a loss of income this year. Cooking from scratch is more satisfying and less stressful than convenience foods or going out to eat, at least for us.

I would say life is better. We are by no means "well off" But being thrifty has helped us pay off our mortage, (this house belonged to Steve's mom and we had to pay off the mortage after her death) and both vehicles are paid for(we both drive 99 models). If we werent thrifty and watched our money,we would have nothing.

I know i have more fun hunting for bargains than just going and grabbing things off the shelf. I love yard sales you never know what you are going to find. So I don't know if it is easier but it is more fun.

Yes I feel our quality of life is better by being thrifty than I would if we were not thrifty. One reason is because I am able to be much more selective and then when I am I often times find that I can get a better deal on products than if I bought it as soon as it came out .

My life is better. Saving money is a good thing. It allows me to spend money on things that will give me pleasure for a long time. Instant gratification isn't all it's cracked up to be. Waiting, saving and wishing for something make it all the more enjoyable when I can pay in full and own whatever outright.
Being frugal doesn't mean suffering. Make it a game. Set goals and have fun with it. Great feeling of accomplishment when you reach and sometimes surpass your goals.

    Ours is definitely better!!

For one, I know what I want, rather than confusing the two.

I feel in control and responsible.

I too love yard sales, g-sales and thrive on them. I really do think it is a game. I can afford the same toys but they don't run up my CCs, I get them used, but many times in fabulous condition.

I just prefer it, though I still have some struggles.

Definitely! We have paid our house off 11 yrs. early, paid off 5 cars (including dk's, bought for them in high school), credit card debt, ETC... . It is soooooooo much better and much better than most people that I personally know. It feels great to have control over our money rather than the other way around.

~48 yr. old sahw, livin' it up in our empty nest, smack dab in the middle of everywhere.~
