they are doing what clothing stores have done for years making some crazy retail price so they can fool people ( not us here of course ) into thinking they got some amazing deal for paying the real retail or a little below .
and if they have been reading the news they would know that hasnt worked well for JCP and they have entirely changed their marketing and sales strategy because people are getting too smart to believe a tee is worth 40 and on sale for 20 and that the 20 is a great deal !
That was how jc penney use to do it. Now they have cheaper everyday prices. From what I have seen the everyday price is what the sale price use to be example they use to say it was $8 for a washcloth normally on salefor $4. The everyday price is now $3 for the same wascloth
Another example same brand same sytle pillow was $25 on sale buy on get one free. The everday price for the exact same pillow is $10.
That is what jc penney is calling fair and square pricing.
Have to agree about sticker shock on items. When I walk through CVS sometimes I look to see how much shampoo or lotion is. Am always surprised at the cost. Especially since I basically purchase the item only when it is on sale and really reduced. So I am used to the sale price not the full retail price.
Just glad I am usually fine with any brand. Saw on the news today that gas prices are going up again. So eventually everthing else will be going up.
Thank goodness I found FV and have a stockpile. Otherwise I would probably be out of luck waiting for the good sales.
With the HBAs and household items I always use coupons and wait for the sale and stock. I have a BOX of toothbrushes I got near to free or at a great low price in the stockpile.
Once you get a few of like items behind you in the stockpile then you can start buying with the coupons and sales and never pay those dumb stinking patootie blah prices again!
I do the same.... I was picking up free toothpaste and toothbrush on this trip.
