Default What is your non-frugal weakness?

We all have areas where we know we spend WAY to much money. We try to cut back but are always tempted by it. I know that I have trouble resisting books (even though I could just go to the library), clothes and things for the kitchen. Most of the time I don't really need these things. It is either an impulse buy or a want rather then a need.

Now that I am pregnant I find that I have trouble resisting beautiful baby clothes even though I know I will get a lot from the baby shower.

What is your non-frugal weakness and how do you resist it?

Mine is jewelry, clothes and things for the house (like at garage sales, thrift stores, for the house stuff.....). It's a challenge NOT to buy when I find something really neat and old.

~48 yr. old sahw, livin' it up in our empty nest, smack dab in the middle of everywhere.~

Mine is salon hair care products, and I don't resist them. I cut back in other areas so that I can afford to buy a few non-frugal things, and this is one of them. I don't feel good about myself when I don't look my best (and my hard water makes my hair soooooooo dry frizzy), so I buy salon shampoo and conditioner.

Other than eating out, mine is clothing for me. I have been really bad about buying clothes since I started college last fall. Although I will admit, I didn't have much of a wardrobe to start with, so I did need SOME clothes.

Mine is gifts. I always get more than I should for people. I'm not sure why, but I do. I think that's why I was so proud of myself this year when I just baked cookies for my team members with free dough I got over the summer and got the gift bags for less than a dollar at Michael's. It was really the first frugal gift I've given. I want to try harder to be more frugal, but I always feel like people are so generous with me, I should be generous with them.

Mine is quilting material and junk food.

In regards to the quilting material, I'm like Michelle. I cut back in other areas in order to purchase something that is non-frugal. In doing this, it has helped keep me on track with being frugal.

Mine would have to be eating out. When I don't feel like cooking on those bad days at school, we go out and eat.

I am like Michelle and CJ...cutting in other areas to afford this luxury.

Mine is eating out too! I consider it almost a "hobby" & I know
that's bad but others spend their money traveling, on luxury
homes & cars etc............eating out is just what I enjoy doing!

Mine would be books. I know I can check out pretty much whatever I like at the library, but I like adding to my own little library Barnes and Noble is my unfrugal friend I would be better off looking through used book stores, but I just love that store!

    Mine is new clothing.

I do get lot of cheap and pretty nice shirts/tank tops at the thrift store ..but for some reason they never have many good jeans/pants for me. PLUS they charge about the SAME price as I could get at Target when their pants/jeans go to about 75% off anyways

Lately I had been buying more since 1) I finally lost that extra weight I wanted to get rid of 2) Dh kept commenting on other girls' cute outfits so it made me really want more new cute stuff

But I plan on making it a resolution to stay away from buying ANY new clothing for myself for at least two months, and then after that I'll try to only spend 12$ per month on myself for a few months..then after that...well I'll see how much we could really afford...

But for me I guess I would consider clothes shopping my hobby besides the couponing I do...they both give that excited/ thrilling feeling

Lately I've been wanting to start sewing things like skirts and pants for ayla..(and if i get good at it, for me too) I have a feeling I could make it a bit cheaper? I don't know, but plus I would be able to make what I have in mind for her to wear and not depend on manufactureres ...I took sewing classes a looong time ago and so all I really remember how to make is basic skirts and scrunchies Plus my secret desire is to be a fasion designer, I'd love to turn my idea's into the real thing

Mine is travel. I don't do it very often, but when I do, I like to go in style.....really nice hotels, fine dining, the works. I use my coupon savings as my travel money, so I work REALLY hard on the couponing.

Books, chocolate and dog shows! I limit my self to a few shows a year and consider it entertainment. Gypsy gets to play with her relatives before she goes in the ring and gets me another ribbon and I get to socialize a bit without having DH and DSs yanking on my arm because they're bored.
