I was out in my flower beds today moving some things around and weeding, and I laughed to myself as I thought how most of my flowering plants were free cuttings---from my sisters, my Mom, from neighbors who put a sign out with some cuttings that says 'free to a good home'.

Then I noticed my next door neighbor had some Shasta daisy cuttings out with a sign giving them away...and some groundcover plant. I have enough groundcover---it's taking over----but I went over there and got the daisies.

I moved some hostas to a shadier spot and voila! daisies. They should look nice next year.

Daisies are great. They will come back every year and butterflies love them.

I need to get aggressive on my coneflowers, they are crowding out everything else. But they are one of the few things that grow well in our heavy clay soil.

I also have clay soil, CH. Even though I've mixed a lot of different stuff in it over the years, it still looks like clay.
