Thumbs down The price of honey is astronomical

Honey has sky rocketed here and now cost just over $7.00 for 1 kg (2.2 lbs.) and they are predicting it will go higher due to the shortage of honey bees.

I use honey for most of my baking and especially for my bread.

Whats the price of honey where you are?

well, we got our honey at costco about a year ago? It's a big ol 6 pound container (I still haven't even used half yet, but close)

I don't think that it cost more than 10$...and 8.xx sounds more like what we paid for it...

but in a grocery store, forget about it..just a small little teddy bear pack would probably go for almost 3$ and that's probably only an 8-12oz size

Wow! I remember before xmas I was looking for pecans online (because they were so costly here) I know I don't have the website anymore but discovered a whole site that sells honey and pecans. They were much cheaper than the store it seems that you could only buy bulk and the only reason why I didn't order is because I needed the items faster than what I was projecting to receive them if I order.... just an option I guess... I've not bought some in awhile.

I haven't bought honey in around 5 years cuz my dad has bees and I get all the honey I want for free. I should start selling it. He just likes the bee hobby, and just gives it away.

i bought some last month at the store but i can't remember what i paid for it. i did buy the store brand as it was over a dollar cheaper than the suebee round bottle and the other fancier stuff and it was twice the size. both were grade A and i really didn't notice a difference in taste.

Just before Christmas I bought a 1kg container at Costco and it was $6.69. That price went up from $4.99 two weeks before. I was thinking the prices just went up because of Christmas. I didn't know about the shortage. I haven't been shopping since before Christmas so I'm not sure if the prices have gone up since then. I need to pick up milk today so I will check the price at Superstore.

Default I know that over a year ago was when we bought Honey

I know that over a year ago was when we bought Honey.
Joe's Honey is the one we bought and it was I think $1.15 at the time and it was a squeeze bottle .
I think that was the cheapest price at the store.
Now I don't know how much Honey would be.

I try to buy locally as well. There is a local farm that sells it quite cheaply. I haven't bought any in a while.

I noticed this week that the price had skyrocketed here as well. It was around $3.00 for the littlest squeeze bear of honey. I didn't buy any.

I had no idea honey had gone up so much. I will check it out the next time I go to the food store.
