When using coupons, do you purchase items....
You woudn't normally purchase if you didn't have the coupon?
I'm just curious because we don't have many coupons here but when we do, it mostly is for things that I don't often purchase.

I used to do this, but now I'm learning from everyone here. It's not a bargain if I'm not going to use it!

Usually, no. But, if it is for an item I have never purchased before, but would like to I will use it if it isn't too expensive.

I often use coupons as an opportunity to try new things. I have found many things that I have incorporated into my life as a result of using a coupon.

I'm also like most of the other girls' responses...we get sooo many coupons it's really great so I have a wide variety to choose from..
We get coupons for things we use, like milk, cheese, bread, canned fruits/veggies/tomato's, icecream, cereal, crackers, dish soap/detergent, shampoo, jello, frozen veggies, fishsticks, ketchup, mustard, mayo, pickles, Pam spray, baking mixes, toothpaste/toothbrushes and more...sometimes even *fresh fruits and veggies but those are rare...I would LOVE to see them printing out more fresh fruit type of coupons...that'd be great! But for now i just stick to the cheapest stores/ loss leaders for that.
Bascially if it's a comparable product to what I already buy then yes I'll try it if I see a coupon out, if it's something like a coupon for rogaine and I've never used it or anything like it, then no I don't buy it.

I used to buy a lot of things just because I had a coupon, I've stopped doing that since joining the village here. Now I will only buy something we normally don't use if it is on sale and I have a great coupon and can get it free or almost free, then we can try it and see if we like it. At Christmas I made my mil a gift box of gourmet type coffees and teas and I used some coupons for some of these things, we don't drink coffee so I normally don't use coffee coupons. Today I bought some L'Oreal foundation on sale at CVS, but ONLY because I can get a full rebate back on it so it only cost me tax and a stamp (I've never tried this product before and I normally would not have bought it but I got it almost free so it was too good to pass up).

It depends on what the after-coupon price is. My policy is that I will buy something with a coupon that I wouldn't normally purchase if the after-coupon price is 50 cents or less. It does have to be a product that I would use, but am usually too cheap to buy

I save these for the rare triple coupons we have around here. When I can get an item that is usually $2.29 for .29? YOU BET!

I do like to try new things, and will use a coupon (doubled, of course) if the item is on sale or the coupon makes it a fantastic (as in almost free) deal. For instance, in Sunday's paper was a coupon for Frito-Lay "Munchies" snack mix. My store was tripling coupons and the "Munchies" were on sale for $1.79, so I got two bags for 29 cents each. Not something I would ever buy without a coupon at regular price, but for 29 cents, heck yeah! Good snack mix too!

depends on the item and how good the coupon is. i won't buy something just to use a coupon, but if i see a coupon for something the kids or dh might like ( like a snack food) then i will clip it out and wait for a sale. i wouldn't use a coupon to get something like the dispossible cutting boards even if it was almost free because i would just never use it and i don't need it cluttering up my kitchen.
i guess what i am saying is that i will use them if the item is something i want to try and i'll try to match it with a sale, but i won't buy something just to use a coupon.
coupons matched with sales are a good time to try out a brand you don't normally use if you can get it cheaper than the store brand. i did that to get some palmolive dish detergent and decided i liked the way dawn worked better. i didn't feel too bad about having to use twice as much to clean with because it was 1/3 of the regular price after the sale and coupon and was worth the experiment.

I sure do, if I can get the item really cheap(50 cents or less). For instance, on my last shopping trip (a couple of weeks ago)I bought 5 healthy choice items for $1.50 after my coupons. I would not normally buy these, but at 30 cents each...

oh yeah i forgot to mention that too, the item has to be really cheap, or at least not any more $ than I'd normally pay
