    Default Cutting Back On Meats

To save money on your grocery bills do find that you have cut back on meat? Have you tried sneaking in more meatless meals? What do you serve instead of meat to save money?

I like to use ground turkey instead of ground beef, it is healthier, and cheaper! Also, I usually just buy a couple of servings worth of chicken and some fish. The rest is veggies, fruit etc. I do find for convenience that I buy Lean Cuisine dinners but I plan on making more from scratch when I settle in my new place, because of the expense.

I amke things like more ethnic foods, other countries use meat as an ingredient instead of the main part. We love pad thai without any meat. We also eat asian noodles and peanut butter noodles. we just use lots of yummy veggies and we feel full after. We rarely serve large cuts of meat and this has saved our grocery budget, as well as made us healthier.

Like Nealy, I very rarely do lg cuts of meat-1-2xs per month pork chops, or chicken dinner. I am more likely to cut up 1 serving of sausage into peppers and onions over rice, 1 serving of chicken breast into a lg pan of stirfry veggies with noodles or a bit of ground turkey or beef for tacos or burritos. We do most meals this way, saves on the budget and my time in the kitchen. I am lucky, everyone here likes black beans and kidney beans, mix either with a spicy rice and some veggies, maybe a little cheddar cheese on the side and it's a winner here.---Kellie

Tuesday is Vegetarian here...I make veg. pizza. or try some other meatless meal. I am going to sit down and comb the veg. sites for recipes. Once I find a few that I like, I'll add an additional day each week.

I've only had one mutineer...my dd12. I'm just going to have to work harder to find something she likes.

With dh dieting, we've been having MORE meat than usual in an effort to reduce our carbs. It's definitely been having an effect on our grocery bill.
