Ok, so I have been hearing all about how prices are just skyrocketing all across the board for everything. I just am not seeing it myself. At least, not to the extent I am hearing about. How about you? What have you really noticed an increase in prices in in the last year?
I know for us gas has gone up. Indianapolis has some of the most volatile prices out there, with jumps of 40c or more at a time. But on average, I would say it is higher by like 30c to 60c vs last spring.
Milk I think has stayed mostly the same. I tend to judge by Aldi prices on milk, because their regular prices are generally lower than elsewhere. Regular prices, Aldi is running around $2.69, last year regular prices were more like $2.49. But, on sale, it's not hard to find it for $2.49 or less.
Eggs, I found that it was harder to find them for 99c a dozen over the winter, but now that it's warming up I am finding that more again. I don't think those prices have changed much since last year, though I honestly don't know what the average regular prices are.
Fresh chicken I can still usually find for 99c a lb, on sale somewhere. Lately, Tyson has had a coupon out for $1 off a fresh chicken product and Kroger has been running a 99c sale off and on, so I have been STOCKING UP. Last year it might have been easier to find it for 89c a lb at times but I don't think the price has changed much, the sale price anyway, in the last year.
Something that has for sure gone up is frozen veggies. It used to be really really easy to find 1lb bags for $1. Now, anything that comes close to that price is 12oz, not 16oz, and it's still at least $1.25. Most of the good ones are approaching $2. In addition, the coupons on these have gone down, so now I tend to consider $1 a lb a GOOD price instead of full price.
What about you, what things have you noticed really going up in price....or not...in your area?
