    Default Homemade Baby Food

To save money and for better nutrition, who made their own baby food? My gf gave me a GREAT book on how to make it. Just wondering who else did it.

I made it when my guys were little. Spun it up in the blender, then froze in ice cube trays for easy meals to zap in the MW.

A can of corn goes a loooong way with a baby!

I did when mine were little. Its really very easy and so much cheaper than jarred food.

Like TheCottageRose, I just cooked the vegies (i used fresh or frozen) then just used the blender and the cooking water to get the right consistency.

I also froze them in ice cube trays.

The only trouble I had was with meat, I never could get that to work and be the same consistency as processed baby food.

I made nearly all the baby food for my 3 kids. It's so easy to mash a banana with a fork, why would anyone want to pay for those little jars?

Now I'm making baby food for my great nephew. Trying to show his 18 yo mother how easy it is (and inexpensive!).

I made it for my kids more for the nutrition side of it, rather than the money side- although that was a consideration too- (we were dead broke when they were little) but I'd do whatever it took to keep my kids healthy and making their baby food was the best way to do it.

We garden, so I just cooked our produce and pureed it in the blender. Chicken livers got boiled, mashed with a bit of formula- and so on.

I tried with Gracie and it just didn't work for me. My sil is due 1 month before me and she made babyfood for her 1st. I'm going to ask her to show me.

i did it when i could. i was working when i had both dks. my mom bought a lot of the babyfood for the kids that WIC didn't cover. i did mash up bananas as that was a lot cheaper. and once they were up to the stage 2 and 3 foods, i just ground up what we were eating with a little hand mill. but i never had enough time or space to make it up ahead of time. if we ever have a 3rd, i would though.
