    Talking Frugal tip 2/16

This tip came from the Tightwad Gazette: When you cook spaghetti, put the water in the pan and then the spaghetti and put a lid on it. When it boils, turn it off and time for 10 minutes, keeping the lid on it. This saves energy and money by not keeping the stove on the whole time the spaghetti boils. Also, it minimizes mess, since you watch it for when it is boiling and not let it boil over a time or 2 while rushing to get dinner on the table.

This is a very good tip. I like to do this because it also helps the spaghetti keep it's "texture"....doesn't get mushy.

I have a tip to add:
Always keep your pantry well stocked with tomato soup. It is
very versatile. It can often substitute for other tomato
products- such as tomato sauce, whole tomatoes, or tomato paste.
(For tomato paste, you just need to thicken the broth).

OHH I like that tip I do it also...another one that I do involves chicken.....put your whole or peices of chicken in a pan cover with water...take the chicken out...put the water on the stove and bring to a rolling boil and then re add your chicken boil for 15 minutes, turn off heat and cover witha lid and let sit for a hour, it will be done and it has the BEST flavor with out adding any seasoning...this is a hint from the Galloping Gourmet...
