Electric usage cost estimate
This came with my electric bill (which is another thread altogether
)
These estimates are based on an average cost of 13 cents per KWH, which of course varies in summer in winter.
Room a/c-8,000 BTU $40.25
Washer $.94 (based on 12 hours per month, who are they kidding?)
Dryer $11.70-based on 18 hours per month
Coffee maker $1.56
Computer/Monitor $6.31
Dehumidifier $21.43
Dishwasher on normal setting $3.43
DVD player .08
Ceiling fan $3.12
Window fan $6.24
Frost free freezer 16 cf $25.04
Hair dryer $6.24
Humidifier $1.68
Portable space heater $70.20
Refrigerator frost free 16 cf $25.92
Swimming pool pump $60.84
Color tv based on 180 hrs per month $4.68
Water heater 40 gal $52.65
Waterbed with heater $18.93
I hope this is helpful to someone. It gives you a nice breakdown of major appliances so you can see where to "tweak" your usage.

Wow, I knew that the dryer cost lots. I also knew a freezer took up quite a bit of energy because a few years back, I emptied mine and only used the freezer in my fridge. Our electric bill dropped a significant amount during the months I didn't use the freezer.
I'm surprised by the dehumidifier though. Not surprised at all about the electric heater.
Look at that water heater though, ouch!!! We have a gas water heater, thank goodness.52 week money challenge - $41.00

CJ, my water heater is gas too

Mel, that's what I thought, since we are all buckling down with our frugality, and summer is just about over.
