Are you an emotional spender?
After watching Dr. Phil this week and skimming over his book about emotional eating and how we use food to sedate ourselves, I was thinking, I wonder how many purchases we make are because we are feeling blue, stressed or lonely? Have you even sat down and thought hmmmm I was feeling stressed from work so I went shopping or I feel down . . . I think I'll check out Amazon?

yep..me to.Why does shopping make us feel better?! Is it because it takes our minds off of our problems or just the fact that you get something new lol
And the worst thing about buying online is you gotta use a credit card

Guilty as charged but I only purchase one thing when I do and thats fat quarters for quilting.
I'm starting to get a handle on emotional eating though.
Heh Shell, off topic a bit, how are you liking his book. I've only started reading the intro and think this book is going to really helpful for anyone who really wants to get serious about weight loss.

I am for sure a spender! Even when I tell myself no, I am reaching for the checkbook!

homesteadmamma I am also just starting to read the book. I do think it is important to try to figure out the reasons we over eat etc. I like what Oprah said once, "it's not the potato chips that is making you fat, there is another reason" Do we turn to spending or eating to calm our selves down or because we don't feel worthy? Find out why.

I guess I might as well add my name to the List. I spend and eat when I'm bored, made, and said. When my dh was sent to the desert for 6 months this past Jan. I shopped like crazy and set us back. Now we are trying to get back to where we were. It's taking forever!
