Hubby performed plastic surgery last night.
Jeff came home yesterday after church with something weighing heavy on his mind. He took me aside and told me that he wanted to cut up all our credit cards except for the gas card because the temptation to use them could be overwhelming at times. This way we could not run up any more debt on them. I agreed and handed over the cards. The only one I had trouble with was my cute Coolsavings.com credit card with the pig on it. I just love the smiling pig!
Anyway, he cut them up while I covered my eyes while he performed the plastic surgery on my pig card and then I was ok while he cut the others up.
I have to say that it is actually a relief!!!! I know that he had been using one of the credit cards and got us into some trouble with overlimit fees and the others were pretty well maxed out with things like getting new glasses for him and I ($700 ouch). Now we don't have the cards to whip out and have to budget. He is even closing his account at the hardware store (the man loves that store and all the cool gadgets there). This is an answer to prayer and I feel better knowing that whatever comes our way, we will not be going deeper into debt with those cards.

I "trained" dh about 3 years ago not to use the credit cards - we paid them off and then did well not carrying a balance for about 6 months. Then we got back to our old ways.... the kids needed to fly to/from their mother's in AZ, charge it; we don't have $ in the checking account right now for that must-have item, charge it. Basically, dh knows now that it's not ok to charge anything and I just need to learn to quit buying things over the internet!
Sorry so long... basically, I just wanted to let you know that I understand what a step that is and I'm sure it makes you feel great! Now where are my scissors....

Great Debbie! WE got rid of our cards about a year or more ago. We are slowly paying the balances off by bine in a credit councelling agency. It feels good because now we are seeing our statements get smaller and smaller! it is a great feeling.
