Default If you couldn't get to the store for 2 weeks...

would your family be okay? Would you have enough to eat and enough personal care products, pet supplies and things to get your through?

I got to thinking about this the other day and realized that if we were snowed in I'd run out of kitty litter! I'm fine in all the other areas, but running of of litter would be disasterous!!!

My pantry and freezers are full. I have plenty of baking supplies and we could go for months without buying shampoo, toothpaste, etc.. I do need to stock back up on "lady stuff" because I only have about a 1 month supply of certain of those products. I always try to have at least a month's supply of TP on hand.

    How about you???

I would be ok for the two weeks, but I don't know if I would be able to survive longer than a month. I wish I had enough supplies, food one hand to only have to make 1 trip a month.

I'd be OK except for milk. Do have a small box of instant I use for baking but need more. Good question Debbie.

I agree, Debbie, it would be disastrous to run out of kitty litter. We're running a bit low here. I need to buy dry milk to have on hand and bread for the freezer, but I think everything else is ok. I have soy flour on hand, which I'm told can be used as a substitute for eggs in baking. We have a good supply of food in the freezer and a full pantry, too. Gotta love those loss leaders! :

I could probably go a month if I could get into the garage. It dosent snow here so that would not be the issue, but in the case of a different type of disaster I would be okay, we just would run out of fresh things, but I did buy a big box of dry milk.

    Hey Dixie,
Do you think that we could buy cat litter by the truckload and share it between us and Diana with her 10 cats??? My 5 make a big enough mess and run up the cat litter bill, I can only imagine what Diana's must be like.

I would be fine for a couple of months I think. I would need to buy some more baby formula though.

If you run out of kitty litter you could try shredded newspapers but I don't know if your kitty will adjust to it or not. Kitty litter is also great if your car gets stucks in the snow. You pour some behind the tires for traction.

Truckload??? I'm in! We go through about 40 pounds a week of this stuff! How come we go through more kitty litter than food??

To your original question, I don't think we could make it for 2 weeks right now. Jack has been doing the shopping for months and doesn't buy loss leaders. Time for me to get back to work!

Good question Debbie, you've got me thinking!

I think we would be fine. It's amazing when I think we don't have "a thing to eat" how long we can actually go!!

We don't stockpile here at all, I'd never even heard of it until I came here.

Although most 'normal' people (LOL) could probably go about 2 weeks, some maybe a month?

However I'm totally useless at shopping I go weekly and then still forget stuff and have to go back again!

At the moment I'd probably be alright for about 3 days at a push and that's my normal

I think we could probably make it for about a month and could even go a year on personal and female items. Love those loss leaders and coupons

We would be fine for about a month on everything but baby formula... I need to stock up! I do have some powdered milk here I use for baking, but I'd have to get pretty desperate before I'd drink the stuff!

The dogs would eat us after a week. LOL We have plenty of food but them... Other than milk all the humans would be fine.
