Thumbs up Keep grocery bags from spilling in your car by.........

Putting two laundry baskets in your trunk. When your done shopping, put the bags inside the baskets. They stay put, and when you get home all you do is lift the baskets out of the car.

I also have a net which I use for milk, 2 liters, etc, but will have to give the clothes basket a try.

i can't lift a basket full or even half full of groceries because i just don't have the hand and arm strength anymore so i use a couple of cardboard boxes. they are ones my mom bought for us to use when we were moving so i saved a couple since they are really sturdy and use them in the trunk. and since i can't lift them anyway, i don't need handles like a laundry basket. we have used the laundry basket idea in teh van though since dh can lift them. works wonderfully.

    Great tip Michelle! ;thumb:

We use the boxes too, other wise everything goes all over the place. I have an SUV, if we don't have enough groceries to fill up the back I use (dollar store) bungi cords to hold them in place!

I actually have little hooks on the back of my seat in my minivan just for that purpose. It was the first time that I had ever seen such a thing. It comes in handy.

For those of you (unlike me!) who are Organisational Whizzes, may I also suggest that you put your cloth carry bags straight into the laundry basket as soon as they have been emptied? That way, you won't forget to take them in to the Supermarket and get plastic ones instead.

Oh, and here's a tip I find useful, when compiling your shopping list, work not only on what you think you need, but mentally walk down each aisle of your local, and that might bring to mind something that you might otherwise forget.

Also, leave a few dollars in your budget for a super special, particularly in staples or the meat or deli. department.

I have worked out a trick. If I can't see where the darn thing will fit when I bring it home to put it away, I'll really have to think twice about buying it. I don't want it sitting on a hot spot or lying on the floor, waiting for my self-confessed husband to trip over it and say a few choice words about my ability to file on a horizontal surface!
