Question Do you balance your checkbook with your bank statement each month

Yes I do right down to the penny. A number of years ago, I made a huge banking error because I hadn't done that. Taught me a lesson the hard way.

    How about you?

We rarely write checks, but if we do then we match things up. We have almost everything auto deducted from our account. It's one of the best things we've ever done.

Yes I do. I do with 3 checking acct.s and 2 savings accts. I keep a close eye on the retirement account but since we make yearly not monthly deposits in that one I don't have to reconcile it as often.
(yes I know we should be doing monthly deposits...and am working on that)

Balance the checkbook- EVERY month! I've seen our bank make way too many errors in the past. For example- they posted my sister's deposit into my dad's account. Their explaination? They go by the 1st 3 letters of your first name. Marvin and Marlena- uhm. . . . I thought it was all done by numbers?

    Anyway- yes we do!

I mostly balance it online rather than the paper statement...but I do look over the statement monthly for errors.

Dh either balances it with the statement or with our online access to our accounts.

Yes, every month I reconcile our bank statement using MSMoney...right to the penny. I also check our accounts online a couple of times between statements to make sure nothing has been missed.

Every month when the statement comes in, I take the time to balance to the penny!
