Question Do you each get an allowance and if so....

How do you spend your allowance?

We use to do this and I always ended up spending my allowance on things we needed in the house, such as milk, bread (if I ran out of homemade), etc.

I've budgeted a small allowance for each of us this year and I'm determined to use my allowance for me things.

    How about you?

I don't have a set amount for an allowance, but if I see something that I like that is within a reasonable amount I will buy it.

I don't have an allowance either, if I see something I like & can use/need then I buy it.

we do the allowance thing. It helps keep the main budget free of the strain of little nitpicky personal wants like books or frilly things.

Most of my frills relate to books or knitting, but I also enjoy buying myself a lunch out with a friend sometimes, or a burger at Wendy's before grocery shopping.

I am another who ends up using it for grocery items, BUT when that happens I make a large fuss so dh knows it happened and we make a big deal out of paying me back.

Oh and the grocery budget has been known to treat me to wendy's before grocery shopping, too. I save more that way. The burger keeps me going longer, and my shopping day is pretty intense, and it means I don't pop for impulse stuff.

No, we don't do allowances. I've talked to dh about it, but so far we've not implemented it.

We don't really do allowances either. I always make sure that dh had some money incase of an emergency or if he has to work OT (doesn't have a choice, if they need him he has to stay). For me, I would end up spending it on things we need in the house instead of on "me" things. I try to be pretty good but usually if I see something I really really want and it won't kill the budget I get it!

We don't have an allowance-I've thought about it, but haven't put it into place yet. We both carry a small amount of cash with us and our debit cards incase of emergency.
