    Exclamation OMG - A whopping!!!!!!

This is incredible. If anyone thinks making these little sacrifices were all making doesn't pay, check this out.

~Natural gas (we heat our home and water tank). Last month we used 539.014 cu. ft of natural gas. Our bill was $216.40.
This month we used 462.010 cu. ft. of natural gas brining our bill to $186.64. This included a price increase on Feb. 1st.

~Electric bill - This blew me away. Last month we used 3200 kwh for a bill of $204.97. This month we used 1810 kwk giving us a bill of $123.19. This included a price increase of 3% on Feb. 1st.

Our natural gas and electric are both owned by the same company. Our electricity will be rising 3% in 2005 and 3% in 2006. Its already been approved.

Here are a few things we did extra from last month to this month.

~dh turned the heat down in his shed (its electric) to 40 degrees F. and turned on his lights instead to give him heat.
~we unplugged our freezer and put what we had left into our fridge freezer. Our freezer is not energy efficient, its 20 years old.
~I used the crockpot to cook as often as I could
~all lights were turned off whenever possible
~the few nights we needed the van plugged in, we didn't plug it in until we went to bed.
~the radio was turned off when not in use
~the tv was never on when we weren't watching it.

Great job, CJ. Like in life, it's the little things that make the difference.

BTW, this is probably a stupid questions, but... "~the few nights we needed the van plugged in, we didn't plug it in until we went to bed."
I don't know what that means. Is this the van you drive? Why do you have to plug it in and what do you plug it into?

Bethany in our neck of the woods, plugging in the van means you use an extension cord that goes from your "block heater" in your vehicle to an electrical outlet outside your home in order to make it easier to start your vehicle in 40 below weather. Its much easier on the motor that way.
