    Default Something else to ponder!

What is/are something/s you have begun to do with out?
Either for the sake of $$s spent, or just because.

I just realized the other day that I have not bought dryer sheets in over a month.
It started out as I just kept forgettnig to get them, but then it dawned on me, no one was complaining!

so, what have you "done without" possibly without realizing it was missing?

    um....food!

    - dryer sheets here too....
    - coffee creamer....
    - regular milk....(strictly powdered at this point!)
    - paper towels....

hmmm - there's gotta be more - seems like we do without an awful lot!!

Milk due to price -- we've been using powdered, but I found out water is a good substitute. Little did I know I was out of powdered milk but already had the shortening cut into the flour for bisquits, there was no turning back. What to do? I used water... those were THE best bisquits I've ever had! I also found that water works well in muffins too. I feel so liberated.

    ~paper towels
    ~dryer softner sheets
~most commercial cleaning products (make our own using vinegar, baking soda and such)
    ~all kinds of processed foods
~milk (have been using powdered milk here)
~bleached flour (that stuff is so bad for you!)
~most bottled juices (much cheaper to use the forzen concentrate)
~going out to the movies (we go twice a year as a treat)
~a newer vehicle (Hubby justs keeps fixing old "ick" and keeping her running)
~a larger home (we're tripping all over each other and the cats here but we don't want more debt at this time)

We *mostly* do without paper towels and napkins, using cloth napkins instead.

I turn the heat down or the air conditioning up a degree above or below what we usually consider *almost* comfortable. I can do that for most of the day but dh turns in down (or the heat up whatever the case may be).

We buy lots fewer groceries these days, using up what we've got in the pantry/fridge.

I don't go shopping for anything nearly as often as I used to. (this alone saves me gobs of money...and gas too!)

~48 yr. old sahw, livin' it up in our empty nest, smack dab in the middle of everywhere.~

*We're debt freeeeeeeee! (including the house)*

    I no longer buy:

Dog treats ~ found a recipe they love.
Kitchen trash bags ~ now we line with newspaper.
Bread ~ I use my bread machine full-time now.
Juice ~ They were drinking it like water! We eat plenty of fruit.
Butter ~ I have vowed not to buy butter until the price drops!

I quit getting my hair done-- now I only get it cut about once every 2 years.

I quit paying for someone to cut the guy's hair-- I cut it and save $12/haircut.

New clothes-- all my clothes now come from the Salvation Army quarter racks ( I won't even pay their regular prices) or I make them from freebie sheets/material that I got at yard sales.

~ Soft drinks - water is better
~ Bread - I make all of our own now
~ Whole milk - I buy it, but divide it in two and add water to make 2 gallons. Tastes like 2%, but cheaper.
~ Buying cookies for DH - I make the fat free - salt free ones for him. Making them only costs about $.30 a doz. Buying his special cookies costs us about $4.00
~ All outdoor flood lights are off. We had been using the motion detector lights, but have turned all of them off. The deer and wildlife kept turning them on!

We used to drink lots of soda, but I've stopped buying it and really don't miss it at all

I'm sure there's other things, but I can't think of them right now!
