Thumbs up OMG - I'm doing a happy dance here

I just got both my gas and electricity bill. Here is what I saved.

Last year our gas bill was $51.13. This year, with 2 increases in costs, my bill is $41.84. I used 24.759 less cu. metres. We use gas for our heating and our water tank.

Our last electrical bill for 2 months was $121.11. For these past 2 months our electrical bill was $70.25. Thats is a savings of $50.76. I'm stunned. That is $35.00 per month. WOO HOO!!

That is a savings of $60.05. It definitely pays to watch and cut back. Our electric bill is lower because we unplugged the freezer. Our freezer if over 20 years old and isn't an energy efficient freezer. I'm using the freezer in our fridge.

I wish I could lower my bill. My freezer is old too but it's packed with everything I got on sale. Are the newer freezers more energy efficient?

Kay, I'm not sure because I haven't gone freezer shopping yet. I do know that appliances as old as my freezer is were not energy efficient.

Because our power goes out so much, I plan on canning more of my veggies and the deer we always get given to us in the fall. My freezer in my fridge is quite big as well. Our fridge is new and an energy efficient one.
