Feeding the hungry family!
When dh and I were first living together it was hard to adjust to how he likes food. Sometimes it is still hard. In all fairness I am sure he finds it hard to adjust to mine. I love chicken---he only likes his chicken if it comes in a bucket.
I keep my food bill down by serving less meat dishes--he is a meat and potatoes man. I am sure you get the idea.
That's why, when I read this article I thought wow, this sounds like our house. How do you keep the food budget down when he wants to eat lots and lots of meat?

I'm lucky that DH isn't picky about what he eats.
But
* I stock up with sales, managers' specials, and 'reduced rack' specials. For example, yesterday, I bought
** seasoned, b/s chick breast ($2/lb) Manager's special. about 3 lbs.
** whole pork loin ($2/lb) Manager's special. about 4 lbs.
** boneless pork chops ($2/lb) reduced bin. 1.5 lbs.
** London broil ($1.90/lb) sale. 3 lbs.
** spiral ham ($0.79/lb) reduced bin. 10 lbs.
Now, I spent maybe $35 for all. (Except for that big ham bone, most has no waste.)
The London broil is going right into the freezer. The ham started out a lunch yesterday; the rest will be for sandwiches or to enhance stews. DH will grill the rest of the meats today, and we will use the leftovers throughout the week (or freeze them).
* I use the SHARE co-op. When I place my order Saturday, I plan to order
** steak package -- 8, 6-oz ribeyes ($15)
** grill package - $21, includes
2.9 lb. Split chicken breast
3.5 lb. Chicken leg1/4's
1.6 lb. Chicken drums
16 oz. All beef hot dogs
20 oz. Bratwurst
corn dogs
2-8 oz. Boneless pork chops
16 oz. Hamburger patties 4-4 oz.
2-6 oz. New York strip steaks
18 oz.BBQ sauce
