Saving at the thrift store

Have you checked out the thrift stores? DH went to get some jeans for work at a thrift store. He buys old jeans as the type of work he does just destroys his jeans. Concrete and sometimes tar. Well the jeans looked like they have never been worn and they fit perfect. They are now his "good" jeans. He got some golf shirts for next to nothing and his co-workers always compliment him on what a good dresser he is.

I've also got some great deals for my daughter. Jeans for a dollar instead of 15-20 dollars at Sears or The Bay. One of her fav. toys I got at the thrift store and I got a few books and videos as well.

Watch for bag days or tag days. Here they often have bag days at the end of each season. Many of the thrift stores in the city have tag days, where the prices go down by 50%.

Watch for 50% off days - Value Village is great for this. They always post it well ahead of time. Mark it on your calendar.

Don't purchase items just because you've found them at a thrift store cheap. If your not going to wear it, why bother buying it.

Always check the items out before you purchase them. They may not be so easy to repair. Zippers are something I double check. I don't like putting in new zippers and even if I can get an item cheap, if it means I have to put a zipper in I think twice about the item.
